Competition Brief
This international competition invited architecture students and young architects to envision a sustainable, self-sufficient farm in the Samana Peninsula, Dominican Republic. The brief focused on off-grid living through the integration of renewable energy, water management systems, and sustainable agricultural practices, responding to the challenges of building in a remote and sensitive natural environment.
Organized by the Samana Group, the competition emphasized the integration of master planning, lifestyle design, and environmental responsibility. Participants were challenged to propose low-impact, locally grounded solutions that support ecological resilience and local economic development, while exploring future models for sustainable development in remote regions.
